Candle Care, Safety and FAQ's

  • CREATE A BURN MEMORY - The first time you burn our candles, it’s important to allow it to burn for at least 3-4 hours to create a full “melt pool”. This means the melted wax reaches all the way to the edge of the container. This creates a 'burn memory' which will prevent your candle from tunneling and creates an even burn ensuring you get the maximum burn time out of your candle.
  • Do NOT burn your candle for more than 4 hours and TRIM wick to 1/4" before relighting each time.  This is super important as it will reduce any smoke & 'mushrooming' of the wick encouraging a longer burn time.

Candle Safety Tips

Candles can be a serious fire hazard if not used properly.  The following tips are to help minimize your risk when burning your candles in your home.

  • NEVER leave a burning candle unattended.
  • ALWAYS place candles on an even surface.
  • BURN AWAY from things that can catch fire (like bedding, curtains, decorations, and clothing).
  • KEEP burning candles in a well-ventilated area and out of reach of children and four legged friends.
  • FOLLOW the burning instructions on the caution sticker on your candle.
  • SIT BACK, relax and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What wax do you use?

We use a custom blend of soy wax and coconut wax - natural, sustainable, vegan and non-toxic. The coconut wax is neutral in scent, as is the soy wax. You can expect an even and long-lasting burn from our candles.

Aren’t all soy wax candles the same?

Unfortunately, no. Label guidelines in the Canada and USA allow any candle that is at least 51% soy to be labeled as a soy wax candle. This means there is potentially 49% that is paraffin, beeswax, palm wax, or coconut wax. There are many pre-blended waxes available to candle makers, and those manufacturers do not disclose their full formulas, other than stating what waxes are in the blend. We ONLY use natural soy wax + natural coconut wax. Our wax is considered vegan by the suppliers.

Do you use essential oils?

We use high-quality, clean fragrance oils that are specifically made for candles and contain essential oil components. In addition, all of our fragrances are free of phthalates and parabens, as well as a long list of other undesirable chemicals known to cause cancer and other health issues. The delicate and costly nature of essential oils does not lend to creating candles, so we recommend customers diffuse or otherwise enjoy their essential oils, and buy high quality, natural wax candles for burning.

What about dyes or other additives?

Nope, and nope. Our candles are natural wax and fragrance oil only, and we use cotton wicks free of metal, zinc and lead.

What size candle do I need for my space?

One candle works great in bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and typically sized living/work spaces. Larger rooms or spaces with high ceilings or open floor plans may need multiple candles for the best fragrance permeation. You can have multiple candles of the same scent, or mix and match them for your own unique blend.

Can your containers be reused?

Yes! Once there is about 1/4 inch of wax left, stop using the candle. Use caution and care when removing the remaining wax, wicks and any labeling. Our suggestion is to gently scrape out the wax and wicks/wick stickers with a rigid silicone utensil (we don’t recommend knives or other metal items) and discard all wax in the trash - never put wax down the drain or garbage disposal. Then place the container in hot soapy water to soften any residue and labels, and wash, rinse and dry. We do not recommend scraping labels off as this might damage the surface of the container. Containers may be put in dishwasher once all wax and label residue is gone. Note: we assume no liability for candle containers or subsequent results of reuse by the consumer, once purchased.

Packages ship Monday through Friday from our wherehouse in Quebec. Our preferred method of shipping is Canpar, Purolator, UPS, Fedex, which takes between 1-9 days .

Do you ship outside the CANADA?

Not at this time.
